AI chatbot for local businesses
An AI chatbot that answers the way you would.
It reads your own documents and answers your customers’ questions in plain English, day and night. When it cannot answer, it takes their details and emails you the whole conversation.

What “AI” means here
Not a menu. Not a script. It reads, and it answers.
Most website chatbots follow a tree someone typed in. Ours reads your documents and works out what the visitor is asking.
A scripted chatbot
- Follows a menu. Ask it something it was not built for and it gets stuck.
- Knows only the answers somebody typed into it.
- Says “Sorry, I didn’t understand that” and leaves the customer to ring.
- Sounds like a form.
- Tells you nothing about who asked what.
An AI chatbot
- Understands the question however it is phrased, and answers in full sentences.
- Answers from your own documents: your prices, your hours, your policies, in your words.
- Says when it does not know, and takes their name and number so you can ring them.
- Sounds like your business: warm, brisk or formal, you decide.
- Emails you every enquiry with the conversation attached, and a Weekly Review of what people asked.
And it still will not guess. If the answer is not in your documents, it says so.
Three voices
The same product. Three businesses that sound nothing alike.
Three businesses in the made-up village of Nethercote — a holiday cottage, a pub and a dental practice — each with its own assistant. The same six questions, put to all three. They are made up, and the answers are real output from really configured assistants, captured once and shown side by side, so the comparison costs nothing to run however many people read it.
The last one is different for each business on purpose. What an assistant should refuse to answer is not the same in a pub as it is in a dental practice, and it is the part you set.

A two-bedroom stone cottage on the edge of Nethercote, sleeping four, with a wood-burner, a secure garden and off-road parking. We do short breaks and full weeks all year. Dogs welcome. It is the sort of place people come back to, which is why the summer weeks go early.
Check-in is from 4pm and we ask you to head off by 10am on your last day. Arriving late is absolutely fine, the key safe works whatever the hour, and I will send you the code the day before. If you want to drop bags earlier on the day, just ask, we can usually sort it.
It changes with the season and the length of stay, so I will not guess at it. A short break in November is a very different number from a week in August. Tell me your dates and how many of you there are and I will give you the actual price rather than a range.
Yes, up to two dogs, £25 each for the stay. There is a secure garden, a towel rail in the boot room for the muddy ones, and a lead hook by the door. We just ask they stay off the beds, and there is a good walk from the gate that does not touch a road.
No, I am an assistant, not a person. I know this cottage inside out because Sarah wrote everything down for me, but if you would rather speak to her she is on the number at the bottom of the page and she does answer it.
That needs a person and it needs one now, not in the morning. I am passing this straight to Sarah with your name and number, and her mobile is 01632 960 144 if you would rather ring while you wait. Do not try to reset it yourself, the manual is in the drawer but she would rather come out.

Beer, food, and somewhere to sit with a dog. Cask ales that change, proper pub grub, a Sunday roast that sells out, a Wednesday quiz, live music once a month, and the Burrow out the back for parties up to twenty. Big beer garden with a heated bit for when the weather does what it does.
Doors open at midday, every day. The kitchen stops at 9, the bar does not. Sunday roast runs 12 to 4, or until it sells out, which it usually does, so do not be the person who turns up at 3:45.
Depends what you are after. Sunday roast is £16.95 and worth every penny. Mains are mostly £13 to £18 and the full menu is on the site. Pints, I am afraid, are subject to Donna's mood and the price of barley.
Very. Dogs are welcome everywhere including the bar, there are water bowls dotted about, and there is a dog menu, which is a sausage or a couple of biscuits. Bring the muddy boots while you are at it, nobody minds.
Nope, I am the pub's assistant. No hands, cannot pull a pint, deeply frustrated about it. Donna is very much real though, and she is behind the bar most evenings.
I am going to hand this to Donna rather than take it myself. The Burrow seats twenty, so forty needs a conversation about how to do it properly, and for something like this she will want to speak to you herself. Can I take your name and a number for her?

We are a private dental practice offering general dentistry, hygienist appointments, and cosmetic treatments including whitening and veneers. New patients are welcome. We are not an NHS practice and we do not have an NHS waiting list.
The practice is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are closed at weekends and on bank holidays.
A new patient examination is £65, which includes any X-rays we need on the day. Beyond that it depends on what the dentist finds, so I am not able to quote for treatment. You will always be given a written treatment plan with costs before anything is agreed, and nothing goes ahead until you have said yes to it.
Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the practice. Other pets we are not able to accommodate, as the treatment rooms are a clinical environment. If that makes an appointment difficult for you, please ring us and we will find a way round it.
No, I am an automated assistant for the practice. I can answer questions about appointments, opening hours and how things work here. I cannot give you dental advice, and anything clinical goes to a member of the team.
I am not able to give advice about a dental problem, and I would not want to guess with something painful.
If it is an emergency, please call 999.
Otherwise you have two options. You can ring the practice on 01926 960 200, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Or give me your details and I will get one of the team to contact you.
If it is outside our hours and cannot wait until we open, NHS 111 can advise on urgent dental care.

What you get
Every enquiry, with the conversation attached.
Know what your customer wants before you ring them back. The name, the number, what they asked and what they were told, in your inbox.
And every week, a Weekly Review: what people asked, the five most-asked questions in their own words, and what is worth adding to your site.
The business here is made up. Real numbers belong to the client who earned them, and we do not publish those.

| Wants | Sunday lunch, table of 8, Sunday 11 October, 70th birthday. Asking about the group menu and whether the snug can be reserved. Bringing a cake. |
Customer Hi, do you do food on a Sunday? I am after a table for eight for my dad's 70th, probably Sunday the 11th of October. |
Assistant We do, yes. Sunday lunch runs from 12pm to 4pm, with roasts alongside the usual menu.
A table of eight is bigger than we take online, so the team arrange those personally. They can also tell you about the snug, which seats up to ten and is often free on a Sunday afternoon. |
Customer The snug sounds perfect. Is there a set menu for a group that size, and can we bring a cake? |
Assistant There is a group menu for tables of eight or more, and cakes are welcome. I do not have the current group menu or the snug charge in front of me, so I would rather the team confirmed both than guess at them.
Shall I pass this on? If you give me your name and the best way to reach you, they will come back with the menu and hold the date while you decide. |
Customer Yes please. Marcus Webb, 01632 960145. Or marcus.webb@example.com if that is easier, though a call is better. |
Assistant Thank you, Marcus. Passing you to Donna, who looks after bookings. She has the date, the party size and that you are interested in the snug, and she will call you on 01632 960145. |

Questions
The questions people ask before they buy.
What is the difference between this and the chatbot my website already has?
Most website chatbots are scripted. Somebody writes a list of questions and the replies to them, and the widget matches what your visitor typed against that list. Ask it anything the list does not cover and it apologises, or it offers you the list again.
Yours reads your documents instead. You write what is true about your business, in your own words, and it answers from that: your prices, your opening times, what you do about dogs, the thing you would never think to script. It also knows when the answer is not in there, and says so rather than guessing, which is the part a scripted widget cannot do at all.
The rest is the service around it. We build it, we watch the first week, every enquiry reaches you with the whole conversation attached, and every week you get a summary of what people asked.
Why not just use ChatGPT myself?
You can, for yourself, and plenty of people do. But ChatGPT is a separate website and app. It is not embedded on your website, ready to answer your customers’ questions in your voice, from your business documents. NanoPorter does a different job. It sits on your website, so your customers can use it. It answers only from the documents you give it about your business and from your calendar, and when the answer is not in there, it says so. It takes the visitor’s details and emails you the whole conversation. And it is built, monitored and kept running for you, rather than being something you set up and look after yourself.
Will it sound like a robot?
Only if nobody sets the voice. The three assistants above answer the same six questions from the same engine and sound nothing like each other, because each one is given its own tone, its own rules, and its own documents.
How long does it take to set up?
Most of the time is yours: five short documents, from our templates. Once they are in, we build the assistant and send you a private link to try. When you say yes, it is one line on your site, and changes to your documents go live the next morning.
Is there a contract, and how do I get out of it?
Yes, a plain-English one, and it runs month to month. You can end it at any time with 30 days’ written notice; if we ever ended it, we would give you 90. Before your assistant goes anywhere near your website you also sign a data processing agreement with us, and when you leave, your data is returned or deleted under it.
